Starring Sandeep Bharadwaj, Tahir Raj Bhasin and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles, the film has been adapted from James Buchanan's novel Ramayana: The Epic Story of Lord Rama. Raavan (Sandeep Bharadwaj) rules over his kingdom called Lanka with his brother Kumbhkaran (Tahir Raj Bhasin). Raavan's fierce brother hates him. One day, Raavan decides to take his army along with his son Ram, the future Lord Rama, to fight against the invading forces of Sultan Jalaluddin Lodhi (Hrithik Roshan). Upon arrival at the outskirts of the Sultan's palace in Gujrat, Ram meets Sita (Priyanka Chopra), a young woman who is rescued from demons by Raavan. The two fall in love but Raavan is unable to reveal his true identity because he fears that if he does so then Sita will not marry Ram instead she will marry him. Ram becomes Raavan's closest ally during the war. Ultimately, Raavan is victorious and Jalaluddin's army is defeated. Sita, however, chooses Ram over Raavan. Raavan gives up his identity as Rama and leaves for Lanka with Sita, Ram and his brother Kumbhkaran. Ten years pass. The boy (now played by Vijay Sethupathi) goes on to become a great warrior named Rama of Ayodhya who fights against the demon king Ravana of Lanka (Vijay Sethupathi).
